Professional Advocacy. Individual Impact.™
“Solo Aging” is not a new idea or journey.
According to Harvard, AARP, and Retirement Guide, between 20% to 27% of adults over 65 live by themselves, with women more likely to be Solo Agers than their male counterparts.
It is for this population precisely that I created (APT): AGING PLAN and TASK list for Better Aging™.
(APT)™ is a proactive professional advocacy support program for Solo Agers and retirees (due to age or disability) who desire a seasoned, credentialed, objective advocate for health care matters, as needed. This may include being named an advocate on legal documents, or assigned as consultant to a decision-maker/responsible party for an individual who is aging or in decline. (APT)™ ensures a solid plan for yourself or a vulnerable loved one when it comes to targeted health care advocacy and guidance for later adulthood or disability.
Often my clients do not have a trusted friend or family member to assist with options and decision-making support. Or, they may not want to burden loved ones who already have their own health concerns.
(APT)™ is particularly helpful to legal guardians without a health care background. Over the years, I have coached numerous guardians on planning for care and estimating costs, navigating community services, and thoughtful and appropriate decisions for safety and care.
This plan assists the client in considering and planning for a crisis or unexpected hospitalization, fall, memory issues, mental illness, disease, or age-related decline, before it happens. The professional advocate will focus on the wishes and optimal outcomes documented during the (APT)™ intake process.
This program is proactive vs reactive. I spend sufficient time up front, knowing and understanding each client’s approach to life and decline, then follow and support them through times of good health and bad health. For a free 30 minute consult, simply request a Zoom meeting on my contact page.
Solo Aging is not always an unwanted consequence of divorce, loss of a beloved spouse, product of fractured family dynamics, or an unintended path or roadmap to retirement. Neither is “Solo Aging” a solemn or joyless place where the lonely waste away, unnoticed.
Solo Aging has its perks. Including complete autonomy, and the option to choose your own, objective advocate through (APT)™.
